Jaws Film Review

Evert time I watch this movie I get chills from the realistic aspect. What I think puts lots of fear into people is a shark attack is most likely to happen, unlike a Godzilla attack. I noticed the lighting at the bringing of the film by the beach. It was dark and scary, it gave a sense of uneasiness on anything can happen. I think what makes a great movie professional lays in the editing. Editing can cause tension by making quick rapid changes in angles. It can also make everything seem faster then it is. Sound is also another factor in the tension that builds in scary movie. When the are on the boat after a shark attack it is silence. All you can hear is the water splashing up against the boat. nobody says a word and you feel that the attack isn't over. During a lot of those shark attacks the camera angles would be rapidly moving from one spot to another and it is hard to see what is going on. 

The music is what makes this movie. If you do your "du dum" then everyone knows what it is from and is on the same page. It makes the movie suspenseful and as the sound speeds up it can get to become uneasy. When the one man finds a dead guy in the hull of a boat the music scares you and gets you to jump. This was a great film but movies today has changed. Back then the technology for a film is not as good as today. I feel like if it was in the box office today it would do as good as it did when it came out, but it would do very well, not a record breaking film but many people would respect it. What makes this movie scary is what I talked about at the beginning. People already have a fear of sharks so it builds off the fear they already have. It is not an unrealistic fear of a made up creature, it could really happen. That is why I think Spielberg did a great job of making it a scary movie.
